Prerequisites
Before generating a report, you should have:
- An engagement with at least one imported scan
- Findings triaged and reviewed (untriaged findings can still be included, but the report will reflect their raw scanner data)
Opening the Report Page
From the Engagement view, click the Report button or navigate to the report section for that engagement.
Step 1: Select Scans
Use the scan selector to choose which scan(s) to include in the report. You can select a single scan or combine all scans from the engagement into one report.
Step 2: Select a Template
Choose a Report Template from the dropdown. JuturnaReport ships with ten built-in templates:
| Template | Best For |
|---|---|
| Vulnerability Assessment Report | Standard full findings report |
| Executive Report | Management-facing summary |
| Vulnerabilities Table | Tabular listing of all findings |
| Remediation Report | Findings with remediation focus |
| Findings by Host | Organized by affected host |
| Host Summary Table | Host inventory overview |
| Open Ports Report | Port and service inventory |
| Actionable Findings Table | High-priority items only |
| Highest CVSS Score Report | Ranked by CVSS score |
| Vulnerability Age Report | Findings ranked by age |
For custom templates, see Report Customization.
Step 3: Configure Report Options
Use the checkboxes to include or exclude optional sections:
- Include Informational findings — includes Info-severity findings in the report
- Include Executive Summary — adds the executive summary section
- Include Reference Number — adds the engagement reference number to headers
- Include Firm Details — adds your firm name and logo
- Include Assessment Type — adds the engagement type
- Include Assessment Period — adds start and end dates
- Include Firm Logo — adds your uploaded firm logo (configure in Settings)
- Include Client Logo — adds the client’s logo if one is on file
- Include Watermark — overlays a watermark; choose from DRAFT, FINAL, or enter custom text
Step 4: Write the Executive Summary
If your chosen template includes an executive summary, enter it in the Executive Summary text area. This field auto-saves as you type and is stored per-scan in the database.
Write the executive summary for the specific audience receiving this report — findings counts, overall risk posture, key themes. See the blog post Writing Effective Executive Summaries for guidance.
Step 5: Validate
Click Validate Report Data before exporting. JuturnaReport checks:
- Finding counts and metadata completeness
- Host data availability
- Required fields for the selected template
Results appear in an expandable panel showing Errors (blocking) and Warnings (non-blocking) along with a summary of what was checked. Fix any errors before proceeding.
Step 6: Preview or Export
- Preview Report — opens a preview so you can verify the layout before committing to a PDF.
- Export to PDF — opens a save dialog. Choose your output location and filename. The PDF is generated locally on your machine; no data leaves the application.
Tips
- Consultant-edited titles and descriptions (set in the Finding detail view) take precedence over original scanner text in the report.
- Dismissed findings are excluded from reports by default.
- You can re-generate a report at any time — re-export after making triage or content changes.
